According to acting Surgeon General Boris Lushniak, the epidemiological causes of rising melanoma/skin cancer rates are still unknown. Regardless though, the rising incidence of melanoma in the US is staggering, with an estimated 63,000 new cases each year and 9,000 deaths/year. Dr. Lushniak has put out a call to action to American families and caregivers to take preventative steps to reduce risk.
